S Y N O P S I S

Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) was born the youngest of three brothers family in England. Since childhood, Briony has talent as a writer. Cecilia (Keira Knightley), Briony's brother studied at Cambridge with Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), son of Tallis family maid. Despite of the lower classes, Robbie has a bright future. From parent fees Cecilia, Robbie was able to continue their education.
Summer 1935, all gathered at the residence of the Tallis family. Leon (Patrick Kennedy) Briony's brother Robbie was invited to come as well. The arrival of Robbie had a chance to make Cecilia feel bad. Although both schools in Cambridge, Cecilia and Robbie are not too familiar.
In the event had been a difference in understanding between Robbie and Cecilia. Robbie tries to apologize by writing a letter to Cecilia. Unfortunately, that sent it a letter containing the outpouring of feeling Robbie. Robbie actually had long harbored a love for Cecilia. Robbie then entrusts the letter to Briony.
Briony who was put on Robbie's heart then read the letter and translate the contents of the letter as an expression of a sex maniac. Robbie tries to apologize about the wrong letter to send, but Cecilia was also felt the same way with Robbie. When they were together in the family library, Briony incoming and Cecilia and Robbie sedan caught making out.
At almost the same Lola Quincey (Juno Temple) Briony's cousin raped people. Four years later, three men met again. Robbie who was a soldier who met with Cecilia ran away from home and no longer want to touch with his family. While Briony who is also a nurse finally realized all the mistakes and begged forgiveness from Cecilia and Robbie.
